Not really! Just once a year (twice a year for the unspayed girls) for about 3 weeks, Samoyeds shed all of their undercoat. When it happens, it comes out like cotton candy. Frequent brushing and using the high speed blow dryer will speed the shedding along.
This is Max's first brushing since I noticed he was blowing. He loves to be brushed because it pulls all the old, itchy fur out and helps him keep cool. If last year was any indication, Calico will start blowing in November.
